Liar, Liar Pants on Fire
WARNING, THE BELOW IS NOT SATIRE!
Okay, Jonathan Drew, you, well your crew at least, make some good sticks, but in the words of President Biden, you are a lying dog-faced pony soldier!
If you watched the latest Drew Estate Live, where they introduced the Blackened 81 cigar and did not almost fall out of your seat, go back and watch it again. I will help you out. Start around 28 minutes in, pay attention to the words coming out of JDs mouth, and hold on to your seat.
In the following two minutes, you will probably hear the biggest load of bull malarkey in the cigar industry.
JD claims that he, himself, and he alone brought the term “Master Blender” to the cigar industry for the first time when he had the brilliant idea to bring Wille Herrera on as Des Master Blender after Nick Melillo left. He goes on, yes, there is more to say that Willie said “Master What” when asked to take on the position of Master Blender at Drew Estates.
If you have smoked the DE Kool-Aid and believe it, google is your friend. Without even trying, I found an article, Blending: Behind the Scenes | Cigar Journal, in Cigar Journal dated October 2008, that uses the term Master Blender to describe Hendrik Kelner, Jose Padron, and Carlos and Carlito Fuentes. In case you were wondering, that article predates Willie at DE by six years.
To quote Big Joe Biden again, “Come on, man!”
