CNT obtained an interoffice memo from Rocky Patel Cigars. It details how in the coming months, Rocky will announce that there will be a rebranding of his famous Edge line of cigars and asks his media department to prepare for it.
Excerpts from the document read, “We feel that the new names more accurately reflect the cigars and uses names that the customer has already been using for the cigars for years.”
“The Edge Maduro will be rebranded the “Two Dollar Turd” and will also be available in a shortened version of 4 ½” long dubbed the “Dog Turd.” The Edge Claro will be rebranded as the “Yard-gar.”
Reasons for rebranding are laid out in the memos as well “We feel that in this time of inflation that more smokers will be asking brick and mortar shops if they have anything like a Yard-gar or Two-dollar Turd. Thus, we should position ourselves to take advantage of this opportunity.
Regarding a reduction in price to align with the new names, there is a handwritten note in the document’s margin that reads, “There may be a slight increase in price due to the rebranding. My dollar has less buying power, so I need more dollars.” With the initials “RP” below it.
