In a CNT exclusive, Jim Colucci, President of Gurkha Cigars, told us, “We have listened to the consumer as well as our sales reps in the field, so we will be focusing on our core line of products.”
According to Mr. Colucci, Gurkha has conducted extensive field interviews at events and festivals, “..it was surprising that folks loved our SWAG, but not our cigars. During internal discussions about those results, a day one intern asked why we were giving away what everyone wanted while selling them a cigar they did not want.”
After some financial analysis by the unnamed intern, Gurkha has decided to discontinue all future cigar purchases and only sell the accessories and swag. “He presented us with the numbers and the interview results, and there was no question. Our customers are not interested in our cigars, just the knives, humidors, and sweet boxes, so that’s what we will be focusing on from now on.”
And a lamb shall lead them.
