The Mi Querida SakaKhan has been in stores for less than two weeks, but the limited release is being recalled and shipped back to the manufacturer.
The recall is a result of a Cease-and-Desist letter filed in conjunction with a lawsuit from recording artist Chaka Khan. Chaka Kahn is most famous for her Disney Classic song, “The Naked Mole Rap.”
CNT has reached out to both parties and only received a reply from Ms. Kahn, who went on record saying, “I don’t know who this Steve guy is, but he can’t take my name. We have a brand to protect. I mean, come on, change two letters and think that’s okay, well its not.”
Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust proprietor Steve Saka has been quiet about the whole ordeal. Sources close to him say he is pretty “torn up” over the whole thing. He is a huge Chaka Kahn fan and has always felt closely connected to her. They went on to say that “Mi Querida” means My Dear and it was a tribute to her really. Which we believe to be the truth as we have seen Steve out at karaoke night, sweating like Las Vegas Elvis and belting out “The Naked Mole Rap.”
