Don Pepin Garcia Cleared of All Charges
Today the FBI, the US Treasury Department, and the IRS issued an apology to Jose Don Pepin Garcia, his family, the cigar industry as a whole, and consumers.
The FBI explained in a statement that they “… confused the honorific “Don” title that the beloved Mr. Garcia has been given with the “Don” from the Godfather movies.” “As soon as we started talking to him, we realized we had messed up. Mr. Garcia is just the best guy. Honestly, we spent more time just chatting with him and listening to his tales of his sixty-plus-year career in the cigar industry. We all went out and purchased a couple of boxes of the “Don Pepin Cuban Classic” cigars as soon as we released him.”
Don Pepin, who is back with his family and doing well, in his typical graceful style, said he was treated well and just can not understand how they made the mix-up.
The FBI said they were “shifting focus to try to apprehend The Hamburglar, a notorious burger thief who prefers McDonald’s hamburgers that has been at large for many years.”
Writers Note: The Best cigar I have ever smoked in my life was one I watched Don Pepin roll and then hand to me during a tour of the My Father factory in Nicaragua. Honestly, I don’t know how good the cigar was. It was just the fact that “The Don” himself finished rolling it and handed it to me.
